Rohit Pawar Challenges AAIB Report on Ajit Pawar’s Fatal Crash

Key Takeaways
Mumbai, February 28 (NationPress) — NCP SP legislator Rohit Pawar on Saturday expressed skepticism regarding the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) report concerning the plane crash in Baramati that claimed the lives of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others.
In a post on X, Rohit Pawar alleged that the incident was not simply an accident but indicative of possible sabotage. He inquired, “What preliminary conclusions has the AAIB reached in their initial report? How will the investigation proceed based on this CID report? The statement in point 5.1 on page 4 of this report, ‘Baramati Airfield is located in the Baramati District of Maharashtra,’ is telling of the seriousness with which the AAIB has approached this report. I will discuss this further in Mumbai on Monday.”
Yogesh Kadam, the Minister of State for Home, stated that since this is a preliminary report, it would be inappropriate to draw conclusions until a thorough investigation is completed.
He noted, “I have yet to see the preliminary report from Air Intelligence that has surfaced in the media. However, it appears the report indicates that an attempt was made to land despite low visibility, leading to a loss of control.”
He added, “This is merely a preliminary report. It would be premature to make any conclusions until a comprehensive investigation is concluded. Aviation safety is a critical issue, and I trust that the relevant agencies will conduct an unbiased investigation. The facts will only come to light once the investigation is finalized.”
Previously, on Friday, Rohit Pawar escalated his call for a high-level criminal investigation into the plane crash that resulted in the death of Ajit Pawar.
He met with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray, alleging a conspiracy and demanding an FIR against the aviation company implicated.
The crash occurred on January 28, 2026, when a Learjet 45 carrying Ajit Pawar crashed during a second landing attempt in Baramati.
Currently, the CBI and CID are investigating the incident; however, Rohit Pawar has claimed that police are intentionally hindering the filing of a formal criminal case.
During a press conference, Rohit Pawar disclosed that he had submitted a dossier containing research papers and technical documents to Chief Minister Fadnavis.
“I have presented all the evidence and my concerns to the Chief Minister. Given that the BJP governs at the Centre, I have urged him to escalate this matter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. We require transparency, not superficial reports,” he asserted.
“My meeting with the Chief Minister was to voice the concerns held by the people of Maharashtra and myself. I have gathered all relevant research papers and documents and have provided them to the CM. As the BJP is also in power at the Centre, I requested the CM to present these findings to the Union Home Minister or senior leaders. I am demanding transparency in this investigation,” Rohit Pawar concluded.
