Chennai, March 8 (NationPress) On International Women's Day, Seeman, the coordinator of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), conveyed heartfelt wishes to women worldwide and reaffirmed his party's dedication to gender equality and the empowerment of women. In a public statement, he referred to women as the "lifeblood of the world" and stressed that the evolution of any community is intricately tied to the status and growth of its women.

By quoting various notable thinkers from both global and Indian backgrounds, Seeman underscored the significance of women's liberation and the respect owed to women for fostering a progressive society.

He invoked Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's perspective, noting that a society's advancement is reflected in the progress of its women.

Additionally, he recalled a powerful statement from former South African President Nelson Mandela, who asserted that true freedom is unattainable as long as women remain subjugated, emphasizing that a nation's progress hinges on its treatment of women.

Seeman also referenced the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, who famously remarked that a nation that fails to honor women cannot soar to great heights, likening this plight to a bird attempting to fly with a single wing.

Moreover, he cited the writings of esteemed Tamil poets and social thinkers such as Subramania Bharati, Bharathidasan, and Kavimani Desigavinayagam Pillai, all of whom ardently advocated for women's dignity, education, and empowerment as fundamental components of societal progress.

The NTK leader echoed the sentiment of Tamil nationalist leader Venkittaraman, who proclaimed that "there can be no liberation of the earth without the liberation of women", emphasizing that gender equality remains an ongoing challenge despite years of discussion.

In his address, Seeman also mentioned the United Nations theme for International Women's Day 2026 - "Gender Equality in the Digital Age: Empowering Women through Innovation and Technology". He stated that this theme underscores the necessity to provide equal opportunities for women in sectors influenced by technology and digital evolution.

Reflecting on his party's past initiatives, Seeman noted that during the 2016 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Naam Tamilar Katchi made a groundbreaking decision to nominate women candidates in half of the constituencies, aiming to illustrate that true empowerment comes through equal political representation.

He reiterated that the party is resolute in its mission to create a society where women possess equal rights, opportunities, and dignity, asserting that gender justice must transition from mere words to actionable practice.
