Soldier Dies in Accidental Mine Explosion Along LoC in Poonch

Jammu, Dec 9 (NationPress) A soldier has tragically lost his life following an accidental mine explosion along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, according to officials.
Havaldar Subash, aged 39, sustained severe injuries while on patrol in the Mandi region of the LoC in Poonch today. He was promptly transported to a medical facility where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival, an official stated.
Authorities have initiated a case regarding this incident and an investigation is currently underway, the official added.
Regions adjacent to the LoC are safeguarded against infiltration through the deployment of landmines, which prevent unauthorized crossings into Indian territory from across the LoC. Occasionally, due to rainfall and other weather conditions, the landmines may become dislocated from their initial placement. These are referred to as drift mines, and experts attribute a significant number of accidents along the LoC to these hazardous drift mines. They often shift from the designated locations marked on the army's patrolling maps.
The army and other security forces have intensified their patrols along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, as intelligence reports indicate that groups of terrorists are poised to infiltrate the Indian side prior to the closure of mountain passes due to heavy snowfall. Additionally, in the interior regions, police and security forces have ramped up their operations against terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers in an effort to dismantle the terror ecosystem within Jammu and Kashmir. Following a series of heinous attacks perpetrated by terrorists after the peaceful participation of the populace in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the Union Territory, the security forces have commenced aggressive anti-terror operations.
