In a meeting with External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar in New Delhi, Albares remarked, "It's crucial for Spain to cultivate our ties with a trustworthy nation like India, which adheres to international law, upholds the principles of the United Nations charter, and champions multilateralism. A final agreement on the FTA with the EU would be a very positive sign that we are eager to see realized."
He pointed out that the partnership between Airbus Spain and Tata Advanced Systems serves as a tangible example of the collaboration both nations aim to strengthen.
Additionally, he mentioned that Spanish President Pedro Sanchez is set to visit India soon and expressed optimism about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Spain.
"We will continue to collaborate bilaterally through the European Union, as well as in a multilateral context. We are eager to join the Indo-Pacific Ocean initiative, and I have brought a letter to signify that moment," he stated.
"We also wish to elevate our partnership to a strategic association, which represents the highest level of relationship we maintain with friends, as is the case with India," Albares emphasized, underlining the expanding cooperation between India and Spain.
He expressed appreciation for the solidarity shown towards the Spanish people during challenging times.
EAM Jaishankar had previously offered condolences to the families of those who perished in the train accident in Adamuz, Spain, while wishing a swift recovery for the injured.
