New Delhi, Jan 13 (NationPress) The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully executed the field evaluation trials of the indigenously designed missile ‘Nag Mk 2’.

As stated by the Ministry of Defence, this missile is a third-generation ‘Anti-Tank Fire-and-Forget Guided Missile’.

The trials took place at the Pokhran Field Range.

During these tests, the missile showcased its accuracy by effectively destroying targets at both the maximum and minimum ranges, thus confirming its operational capabilities.

Defence specialists noted that the ‘Nag Missile Carrier’ (version 2) was also assessed during the trials. Following these successful evaluations, the complete weapon system is now poised for induction into the Indian Army.

In three separate field trials, the missile systems successfully eliminated all designated targets—at maximum and minimum ranges—validating its effective firing range.

“The trials of the Guided Missile were carried out recently at Pokhran Field Range in the presence of high-ranking officials from the Indian Army,” the Ministry of Defence reported on Monday.

The ‘Nag Missile Carrier’ version-2 was also tested in the field. With this, the entire weapon system is now prepared for entry into the Indian Army.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has extended his congratulations to DRDO, the Indian Army, and industry leaders for the successful field evaluation trials of the complete weapon system of Nag Mk 2.

Dr. Samir V Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, also lauded the efforts of all parties involved in readying the missile for induction into the Indian Army.

Last year, India conducted a successful launch of the Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile, Agni 4. This launch occurred from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha on September 6, 2024.

The launch of the Ballistic Missile, Agni 4 effectively validated all operational and technical parameters, conducted under the direction of the Strategic Forces Command.
