The Regional Event-cum-Workshop 2026 is set to take place at Kurukshetra University and is organized under the Tele-Law initiative, part of the Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice (DISHA) program—an initiative by the Department of Justice within the Ministry of Law and Justice.
This workshop, focusing on the Tele-Law initiative, is integral to the Government of India’s extensive plan to enhance access to justice through raising awareness, building capacity, and providing technology-driven legal services.
A key highlight of the event will be the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the national anthem ‘Vande Mataram’, featuring performances by local artists to honor its significance in India's fight for independence.
The workshop will commence with a welcome address from the Secretary of the Department of Justice, contextualizing the discussions to follow. Attendees can expect a session that exhibits the advancements made by the DISHA Scheme in Haryana, showcasing real-time interactions with panel lawyers from Tele-Law, Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), and beneficiaries, highlighting the transformative effects of technology in legal services at the community level.
Furthermore, the program will include discussions on pro bono initiatives led by law colleges in Haryana, featuring insights from faculty and students engaged in community legal services.
Five e-books detailing the customary laws of India’s North Eastern region will also be launched, promoting the preservation and sharing of traditional legal knowledge. Additionally, a documentary by Doordarshan on the DISHA Scheme will be presented, showcasing its vision, execution, and nationwide impact.
The event will conclude with the distribution of mementos, followed by a vote of thanks from the Joint Secretary (Access to Justice), culminating in the National Anthem and high tea.
Approximately 900 participants are expected to attend in person, including officials from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, State Legal Services Authority, Haryana, advocates from local bar associations, government counsels, VLEs from Common Service Centres (CSCs), Tele-Law panel lawyers, and law students from various universities, alongside senior officials from both central and state administrations. Additionally, many citizens and stakeholders from the Department of Justice will participate virtually.
