Hyderabad, April 17 (NationPress) Leaders from Telangana's ruling party, including various ministers, conducted a dharna outside the regional office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday to voice their opposition against the charge sheet issued against former Congress presidents Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi over accusations of money laundering linked to the National Herald case.
The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) organized the demonstration in alignment with the directive from the party's central leadership for nationwide protests.
Leading the protest was TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, alongside Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, with attendance from ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and numerous party leaders.
Notably, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was in Japan during the event, yet several ministers participated in the dharna.
AICC in-charge for Telangana, Meenakshi Natrajan, and other senior leaders also joined the protest.
The leaders accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of engaging in political vendetta against Sonia and Rahul.
Ministers including Damodar Raja Narasimha, Ponnam Prabhakar, Jupally Krishna Rao, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Konda Surekha, and former MP V. Hanumantha Rao actively participated in the dharna outside the ED office located at Basheerbagh in the city center.
Mahesh Kumar Goud stated that the BJP resorted to political vendetta due to concerns over the successful recent AICC session held in Gujarat. He claimed that the BJP is leveraging investigative agencies to damage the reputation of Rahul Gandhi.
Prabhakar asserted that the BJP is targeting the Gandhi family, which has made significant sacrifices for the nation.
Transport Minister Prabhakar further alleged that the BJP is operating the government with the aid of the CBI and ED.
He expressed that this political vendetta from the BJP is detrimental to the country.
Prabhakar conveyed confidence that the populace would support the Gandhi family, stating that Congress would engage in protests nationwide.
Demonstrating full faith in the judiciary, the Congress leaders expressed their belief that the Gandhi family would ultimately receive a clean slate.
Former MP Hanumantha Rao and several other leaders also held a protest at the ED office on the previous day.
Mahesh Kumar Goud had previously led a rally to condemn the charge sheet issued by the Central agency against prominent Congress figures.
