Hyderabad, March 30 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, declared on Monday that the state will implement a unique system aimed at combating food adulteration.
Expressing alarm over the escalating issue of food adulteration, he mentioned that the forthcoming system would mirror the recently introduced enforcement frameworks, such as EAGLE and HYDRAA, which target drug-related issues and lake encroachments, respectively.
During a media briefing, he stated the necessity for the government to analyze current anti-adulteration laws across India and adopt rigorous measures.
He criticized BJP MP K. Laxman for his ‘unwarranted’ comments regarding delimitation and for even suggesting the imposition of President’s Rule in Telangana. “Will the BJP enforce President’s Rule in states under its governance as well?” he questioned, urging Laxman to step down for the benefit of South India.
The Chief Minister asserted that delimitation would be detrimental to South India and called for a comprehensive dialogue on this matter.
“There are efforts to secure a brute majority in the nation. South India is being penalized despite its superior performance in family planning,” he remarked and urged BJP leaders to grasp the implications.
To mark the completion of one year of the fine rice distribution initiative, which has benefited 3.39 crore individuals, the Civil Supplies Department hosted a meal for state legislators in the Assembly Central Hall featuring fine rice.
The event saw participation from various leaders, including Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy, Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, MLCs, and MLAs.
The Chief Minister noted that previously distributed coarse rice was frequently wasted, leading to a surge in mafia activity converting it to fine rice. This resulted in government spending without genuinely aiding the poor. After meticulous consideration, the government initiated the scheme to provide fine rice that is actually consumed by people.
In support of this, a ₹500 bonus per quintal was announced to motivate farmers to cultivate fine paddy. Ration cards have been issued to all eligible beneficiaries. The government is committed to ensuring quality education and nutritious meals for students.
He further mentioned that awareness regarding crop diversification will be enhanced. Farmers will be motivated to transition toward commercial and alternative crops.
Additionally, the Chief Minister announced that cancer screenings will be made available for everyone statewide.
In reference to the former Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), Revanth Reddy commented that there is no basis for comparison between him and KCR.
“We are fulfilling our commitments, while KCR failed to execute his promises,” he asserted.
Taking a jab at KCR’s son K. T. Rama Rao and nephew T. Harish Rao, Revanth Reddy speculated that KCR might be under ‘house arrest’.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that there would be no changes in the scheme for subsidized LPG cylinders offered at ₹500 for eligible women beneficiaries.
