Amaravati, July 23 (NationPress) In an unusual turn of events, a bus operated by the state-run Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) was reported stolen in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.
After being alerted by APSRTC officials, local police successfully intercepted the stolen bus and apprehended the suspect a few hours later.
The bus, known as 'Palle Velugu,' had arrived in Nellore town from Atmakur on Tuesday night. Following its parking at the bus stand, the driver, Jeelani, stepped away momentarily to use the restroom.
Upon returning the next morning, Jeelani was taken aback to discover the bus was gone. He promptly notified APSRTC officials, who escalated the matter to the police.
Law enforcement reviewed CCTV footage from various spots throughout the town. They spotted the stolen vehicle at the Bucchireddypalem toll gate. Acting swiftly, the police stopped the bus near Nellorepalem Circle, approximately 50 km from Nellore town, and arrested the thief.
The suspect was identified as B. Krishna, a resident of Kancherla village in the Vidavalur mandal of the same district. The police are currently interrogating him to uncover his motives.

The stolen bus was eventually found in Meesala Dolapeta in Regidi Amadalavalasa mandal.
Several suspects were apprehended, and during questioning, Chowdary Suresh admitted to stealing the bus.
He explained that he had no transportation to get to his village and, in a moment of poor judgment while under the influence, took the parked bus to get home.
