Patna, Jan 1 (NationPress) While residents of Bihar celebrated the arrival of the New Year, two catastrophic road accidents in Muzaffarpur and Begusarai cast a shadow of sorrow over families, transforming festivity into mourning.
A heartbreaking incident unfolded near Gobarsahi Chowk in the Sadar police jurisdiction of Muzaffarpur, claiming the lives of two young men.
As per police reports, the victims were riding a motorcycle at excessive speed when they lost control and collided with a road divider in the early hours of Thursday, around 12:30 AM.
The collision was so intense that the motorcycle was completely wrecked. Both riders were thrown onto the road and suffered severe injuries.
Despite immediate assistance from locals and law enforcement to transport them to the hospital, both succumbed to their injuries en route.
The deceased have been named as Rishabh Kumar, a resident of Prabhat Nagar under Sadar police station, and Shashi Ranjan Kumar, from the Sahebganj police station area.
Sadar SHO Ashmit Kumar verified the incident, noting that initial investigations suggest overspeeding and loss of control as the primary causes.
The bodies were taken to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) for post-mortem examinations. Ongoing investigations are in progress.
As the news of their deaths reached their families—who were eagerly anticipating the New Year with their sons—they were left utterly devastated. A cloud of sorrow enveloped their communities.
In a separate tragic event on New Year’s Day, a road accident in Begusarai resulted in the death of an 18-year-old and left two others injured.
The accident took place on State Highway-55 close to Hardiya Middle School, under the Mufassil police jurisdiction, when three friends were returning on a motorcycle after visiting Kanwar Lake.
The young man who lost his life has been identified as Gaurav Kumar (18), son of Raja Ram Pandit, a resident of Hanspur Ward-2 under Nayagaon police station.
The injured individuals include Premchand, son of Lakhan Sah, who is in serious condition and receiving treatment at a private clinic, and Subodh Kumar, son of Ramkishore Mahto, who suffered minor injuries.
According to Subodh Kumar, their motorcycle collided with a cart parked at the roadside.
After the impact, Gaurav fell onto the main road, where he was tragically run over by a speeding HIWA truck (BR-31GC-0746), resulting in his immediate death.
With the assistance of locals, police apprehended the truck and detained its driver.
Gaurav’s body was sent to Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The Mufassil police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Gaurav Kumar was the only son and the sole breadwinner for his family.
His father works as a mason, and this sudden tragedy has plunged the family into uncertainty, enveloping the entire neighborhood in grief.
