Tributes Paid to Former PM Manmohan Singh: A Titan of the Country's Economy by Karnataka Congress

Belagavi (Karnataka), Dec 27 (NationPress) The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) organized a heartfelt tribute to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during a condolence gathering held at the CPED grounds in his memory.
In response to the passing of the former Prime Minister at the age of 92 in Delhi on Thursday night, the Karnataka government declared a period of seven days of mourning and a one-day holiday for educational institutions.
Additionally, the party decided to cancel its scheduled ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’ convention, which was set to occur on Saturday as part of the centenary celebrations honoring Mahatma Gandhi's presidency in the Congress.
During the event, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah spoke, stating, “Former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh was regarded as one of the greatest economic minds in the world, dedicated to the welfare of the middle and lower classes.”
He quoted Dr. Singh's words: “I may not receive much recognition for my work while I am alive, but in the future, our efforts will be valued greatly.”
Reflecting on Dr. Singh's remarkable life, CM Siddaramaiah remarked, “From humble beginnings, he became a preeminent economic figure and served as Prime Minister on two occasions.”
He highlighted Dr. Singh's gentle demeanor and his commitment to improving the nation's economy with a focus on the less privileged.
CM Siddaramaiah fondly remembered their interactions, saying, “He would always listen patiently and provide sincere advice.”
“He fulfilled every role with integrity and dedication, whether as RBI Governor, Finance Minister, or Prime Minister for a decade,” he noted.
He also remarked on Sonia Gandhi's decision to appoint Dr. Singh as Prime Minister, emphasizing his leadership during challenging times.
CM Siddaramaiah praised Dr. Singh's role in implementing liberalization policies during a critical economic crisis, which significantly integrated India into the global economy and revitalized its economic framework.
“He embodied the fundamental principles of our Constitution,” he added, mentioning the impactful legislation such as the Food Security Act, Right to Education Act, and Right to Information Act, which benefitted the economically disadvantaged.
“His demise is a profound loss not only to India but also to the global economic landscape,” he stated, recalling Dr. Singh's involvement with the Ambedkar School of Economics and his appreciation for Karnataka's economic achievements.
CM Siddaramaiah concluded by recognizing Dr. Singh's unparalleled understanding of economic challenges, stating, “Despite his vast expertise, he remained humble and approachable.”
