Agartala, Jan 13 (NationPress) In response to criticism from the Opposition regarding the delay in filling numerous vacant positions in the Home Department, Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha declared on Monday in the state Assembly that efforts are underway to recruit over 8,000 personnel across various roles.

Saha, who also oversees the Home portfolio, addressed the concerns raised by the MLAs, stating that there are currently 7,323 vacant posts within the Home Department, which includes 2,125 police constable positions.

He emphasized that the recruitment process is ongoing and continuous.

Furthermore, the state government has initiated measures to fill these vacancies, particularly for police constables.

"We are working to fill 218 posts for Sub-Inspectors (both Armed and Unarmed) for male and female candidates through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC). The recruitment process for 1,000 police constable positions is currently in progress, along with efforts to recruit an additional 916 police constables," Saha informed the assembly.

He also mentioned that the state government is utilizing Ad-hoc promotions to address various vacant roles.

Additionally, Saha provided an update that the recruitment process for 6,067 Special Police Executives is nearing completion.

In a related inquiry, the Chief Minister announced that to enhance road infrastructure in Tripura, the state government plans to submit Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for two proposed National Highways to the Central government, which have already received preliminary approval.

Saha, also responsible for the Public Works Department, stated that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has preliminarily approved the construction of four national highways in the state.

"These highways are crucial. The routes include Kamalpur to Santirbazar, spanning 148 km, Champaknagar to Udaipur at 40 km, Amarpur to Udaipur measuring 24 km, and Santirbazar to Belonia covering 17.25 km," he concluded.
