Agartala, May 13 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, issued a stern warning on Tuesday regarding the dissemination of incorrect, offensive, and misleading posts on social media platforms.
Speaking at an official event, he noted that a segment of the population tends to share whatever crosses their minds on social media.
“We are closely monitoring these activities. There needs to be a framework, or severe penalties will follow,” stated Saha, who also oversees the home ministry.
He asserted that in comparison to 2023, the overall crime rate dropped by 19.4 percent in the previous year (2024) and revealed plans for the recruitment of 916 constables and 218 Sub-Inspectors for the Tripura Police to bolster law enforcement in the state.
“There has been much discussion regarding these recruitments, and many have raised concerns. However, the present government operates in a timely and completely transparent manner. No one can claim that external influences are involved in the hiring process. This administration awards jobs based on merit and transparency,” he emphasized.
Saha also shared that since February 12 of this year, developmental initiatives worth Rs 368.21 crore related to infrastructure and various sectors have been inaugurated or have had their foundation stones laid to advance the state's development.
He remarked, “We are also focusing on enhancing the quality of education for teachers by providing improved training. Additionally, we have allocated 33 percent reservation of government positions for women to promote their empowerment.”
“We will gradually address the inadequacy in police strength, as maintaining public safety and order is among our top priorities. We aim to empower the police for enhanced law enforcement and have granted full authority to the state forces. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that the armed forces have been given free rein during Operation Sindoor, and we have witnessed their effective operations against terrorists,” he concluded.
