Agartala, Feb 24 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, has extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to inaugurate the newly revitalized Tripura Sundari temple, which is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas revered by Hindus, located in Udaipur, southern Tripura, as reported by a minister on Monday.

Sushanta Chowdhury, the Minister for Tourism and Transport in Tripura, mentioned that under the PRASHAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive) initiative by the Union Tourism Ministry, the 524-year-old Tripura Sundari temple has been redeveloped with an investment exceeding Rs 52 crore.

Additionally, the Tripura government has contributed Rs 7 crore towards this project, and the construction agency is set to hand over the newly redeveloped temple to the government.

According to Chowdhury, the temple priests have suggested April 7 as the auspicious date for the inauguration based on the Hindu religious calendar. The CM has also invited the PM and HM during his recent visit to Delhi, and the final date for the inauguration will be confirmed based on their availability.

The Tripura Sundari temple, located in the Gomati district of southern Tripura, symbolizes the rich cultural heritage of the state. The inauguration by the Prime Minister would underscore its importance.

Established in 1501 by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya, the temple lies approximately 65 km south of Agartala and is recognized as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in India, ranking as the third such shrine in eastern India after the Kali temple in Kolkata and the Kamakhya temple in Guwahati.

A government official from Tripura indicated that the redevelopment of the Tripura Sundari temple is nearing completion, with the remaining work expected to finish shortly.

After the end of a 517-year reign by various kings, the former princely state of Tripura merged with the Indian government on October 15, 1949, following an agreement signed by Kanchan Prabha Devi, the then-regent Maharani, and the Indian Governor General.

The Union Tourism Ministry has recently sanctioned a project worth Rs 97.70 crore for the development of a 51-Shakti Peethas Park in Banduar, situated just 4 km from the Tripura Sundari temple, aimed at preserving and promoting spiritual heritage.

The proposed park is in a peaceful village in the Gomati district, surrounded by lush greenery and tranquility. This ambitious religious tourism project will offer visitors an immersive experience by presenting replicas of the 51 Shakti Peeth temples from the Indian subcontinent, embodying the rich cultural and spiritual legacy of Hinduism's Shakti (Devi) worship.

The park is planned to include various amenities to enhance the visitor experience, such as a food court with ample seating, a souvenir shop, drinking water stations, well-constructed roads with parking facilities, public conveniences, guest accommodations, landscaped gardens, mythology museums, and diverse entertainment activities.
