New Delhi/Agartala, Feb 15 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday to officiate the inauguration of the recently redeveloped Tripura Sundari temple, revered as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas by Hindus in India.

An official from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) stated that CM Saha met PM Modi at his official residence located at Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi, where they discussed various topics related to Tripura.

During this meeting, the Chief Minister reiterated his invitation for PM Modi to inaugurate the redeveloped temple in southern Tripura.

This temple serves as a significant emblem of the state's rich cultural heritage, and the presence of the Prime Minister would underscore the temple's importance,” the official commented.

The Tripura Sundari temple was established in 1501 by the former king Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in Udaipur, located 65 km south of Agartala, and is recognized as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in the nation, being the third such shrine in eastern India following the Kali temple in Kolkata’s Kalighat and the Kamakhya temple in Guwahati.

As per another official, the Union Tourism Ministry has allocated Rs 54 crore under the PRASHAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive) scheme for the comprehensive development of the Mata Tripura Sundari temple.

The redevelopment work of the temple is nearly finished, with the remaining construction expected to be completed shortly,” the official informed IANS.

Following the end of the 517-year reign by numerous kings, on October 15, 1949, the former princely state of Tripura fell under the jurisdiction of the Indian government after a merger agreement was executed between Kanchan Prabha Devi, the then regent Maharani, and the Indian Governor General.

The official also mentioned that to enhance and safeguard the spiritual heritage, the Union Tourism Ministry has recently sanctioned a project worth Rs 97.70 crore for developing a 51-Shakti Peethas Park in Banduar, southern Tripura.

This proposed park holds religious importance as it is located merely 4 km from the Tripura Sundari temple established by the former king 524 years ago.

According to the official, the site for the 51-Shakti Peethas Park in Banduar is a tranquil village in the Gomati district, surrounded by lush greenery and a peaceful atmosphere.

The area also provides a serene environment.

The 51 Shakti Peethas Park is an ambitious initiative focused on religious tourism, intended to be established in Banduar village. This unique project aspires to offer an immersive experience for visitors by displaying replicas of the 51 Shakti Peeth temples from across the Indian sub-continent, symbolizing the rich cultural and spiritual legacy linked to Shakti (Devi) worship in Hinduism,” the official explained.

He added that the park will incorporate various amenities aimed at enhancing the overall visitor experience, including a food court with ample seating, a souvenir shop, drinking water facilities, well-constructed roads with parking, public conveniences, guest accommodations, landscaped gardens, mythology museums, and various entertainment activities.
