Washington, Dec 19, (NationPress) The United States expressed its appreciation on Friday for Pakistan's consideration of a request from the Trump administration regarding troop contributions to a potential stabilization force in the conflict-ridden Gaza region. This initiative aims to establish a framework for a sustainable peace between Israel and the Palestinians following the end of hostilities.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio conveyed gratitude during a year-end press conference, stating, "We are very thankful to Pakistan for their willingness to contemplate participation in this effort." He emphasized that discussions with Pakistan and other nations remain in the early stages, with significant uncertainties surrounding the mission's mandate, funding, and operational structure.

Rubio noted, "Countries involved want clear details regarding the mission's specific objectives and the funding model," responding to inquiries about the status of Pakistan's agreement to send troops for peace-building efforts in Gaza. "We owe them further information before we can expect any firm commitments," he added.

The United States is currently formulating a framework for an international stabilization force intended for Gaza post-conflict. Officials have indicated that this force aims to prevent a security vacuum and facilitate a transition to civilian governance within the Palestinian territory.

Rubio expressed optimism that the US has identified several nations willing to participate, contingent upon the mission's parameters being satisfactory to all stakeholders involved in the conflict. "I am confident we have several nations ready to contribute if we can provide clear definitions that meet everyone's expectations," he remarked. Significantly, Pakistan could play a crucial role if they choose to engage.

Rubio also highlighted the immediate priority of establishing political and administrative frameworks that will underpin post-war governance in Gaza. He indicated that Washington is preparing to unveil new structures to manage the day-to-day affairs of the territory. "We are aiming to make substantial progress; the next step involves announcing the Board of Peace alongside a Palestinian technocratic team for effective daily governance," he stated.

Finalizing the details for a multinational stabilization force—including funding, governance, and deployment—will only occur once these foundational elements are established. He added, "Once these frameworks are secured, we can solidify the stabilization force's plans, including funding mechanisms, rules of engagement, and demilitarization roles."
