Ahmedabad, Dec 23 (NationPress) Adani Defence & Aerospace revealed on Monday that it has entered into a binding agreement to acquire Air Works, recognized as India’s foremost private-sector maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) entity, for an enterprise value of ₹400 crore.
Adani Defence Systems & Technologies Ltd (ADSTL) has executed a share purchase agreement to obtain an 85.8 percent stake in Air Works India (Engineering) Private Ltd, as indicated in a company announcement.
Air Works specializes in base maintenance for narrow-body and turboprop aircraft, along with rotary aircraft, from its facilities located in Hosur, Mumbai, and Kochi, holding regulatory approvals from civil aviation authorities in over 20 countries.
Beyond being a leader in civil aviation, Air Works has developed considerable expertise in defence MRO, completing projects for significant platforms of the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force, according to the statement.
This acquisition boosts the Adani Group’s capabilities in the defence MRO sector, reinforcing its standing within India’s airborne defence framework, the statement emphasized.
This strategic decision signifies a crucial milestone in the growth journey of Adani Group, establishing a pathway for its expansion into the civil aviation services sector.
With operations in 35 cities and a workforce exceeding 1,300 personnel, Air Works brings vast expertise in servicing both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.
The MRO firm provides a comprehensive range of aviation services, including line maintenance, heavy checks, interior refurbishment, painting, redelivery checks, avionics, and asset management services to its clientele in India and globally, as per the statement.
“The Indian aviation sector is at a transformative phase, currently the third largest globally and poised to induct over 1,500 aircraft in the upcoming years,” stated Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Airports.
“This growth aligns perfectly with the government's vision to connect every part of our nation, presenting unprecedented opportunities in aviation services. For us, establishing a presence in the MRO sector transcends strategic intent—it's a commitment to fostering an integrated aviation services ecosystem that fortifies the backbone of India’s aviation infrastructure. Together, we are eager to play a significant role in shaping the future of India’s skies.”
Adani Defence & Aerospace CEO Ashish Rajvanshi stated: “This landmark acquisition signals a crucial step in Adani Defence & Aerospace’s objective to enhance India’s MRO capabilities.”

In a period where Aatmanirbharta in defence is a national priority, we are fully devoted to scaling domestic capabilities to support our armed forces and the broader aviation landscape. This is our promise to the nation—to cultivate capabilities that safeguard our skies and bolster our sovereignty.”
