New Delhi, May 1 (NationPress) GitHub Copilot has now exceeded 15 million users, marking a remarkable growth of over 400% year-over-year, according to the company's latest report.

This development coincides with the news that the developer community in India has grown to more than 18 million individuals.

“So far this year, GitHub has released 85 updates for Copilot, introducing new features such as MCP support, expanded model compatibility, the ability to bring your own key, and next edit suggestions,” the company stated.

Furthermore, Copilot's code review agent has successfully evaluated over 8 million pull requests.

“This impressive momentum is a testament to our dedicated team members, particularly those in the VS Code and GitHub teams, who are committed to continuously enhancing our product at a rapid pace,” said GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke.

“This year alone, we’ve documented 85 changelogs for GitHub Copilot, which range from MCP support to next edit suggestions. We’re just getting started. With the agent mode integrated into VS Code, Copilot can now iterate on code, identify errors, and automatically rectify them,” he added.

This is in addition to other Copilot agents like Autofix, which assists developers in addressing vulnerabilities, alongside the code review agent.

“What began as the initial AI pair programmer is evolving into a Software Engineering agent that is seamlessly integrated into your coding environment. Consequently, GitHub will not only be the hub for your repositories but also for your agents,” Dohmke concluded.

Companies such as Twilio, Cisco, HPE, SkyScanner, and Target continue to adopt GitHub Copilot to empower their developers with AI throughout the entire development lifecycle.

In related news, Microsoft revealed its financial results for the quarter ending March 31, 2025, reporting revenues of $70.1 billion, reflecting a 13% increase, and a net income of $25.8 billion, which saw an 18% rise.

“Cloud and AI are critical components for businesses aiming to enhance productivity, minimize costs, and drive growth,” stated Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s chairman and CEO. “We are innovating across the entire stack, from AI infrastructure to applications, to serve our customers effectively,” he added.
