New Delhi, Oct 24 (NationPress) Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal engaged in a dialogue with EU Commissioner for Economy and Productivity V Dombrovskis in Berlin regarding the remaining challenges in the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, aiming to facilitate a balanced and mutually advantageous trade agreement by the impending year-end deadline.
"It was a pleasure to meet my colleague V Dombrovskis over lunch in Berlin. We addressed the substantial advancements in the India-EU Free Trade Agreement negotiations and reiterated our dedication to resolving lingering issues for a fair and beneficial trade arrangement," Goyal shared on X.
He also interacted with senior executives from Europe’s prominent firms, including Airbus, ABB, and Bank of America, discussing investment avenues and their growth strategies in the rapidly expanding Indian market.
"Had a great conversation with Rene Obermann, Chairman of the Board at Airbus. It was encouraging to learn about his optimism regarding India’s growth narrative. We explored how Airbus intends to enhance its collaboration with India, leveraging the nation’s exceptional engineering and technology expertise, progressive policy measures, and improved Ease of Doing Business," the minister noted on X.
Additionally, Goyal mentioned, "I met with Bernard Mensah, President of International for Bank of America. We discussed pathways to strengthen India-US financial ties, amplify investments, and how ongoing reforms are boosting investor confidence in India.”
During a meeting with ABB Group CEO Morten Wierod, Goyal highlighted the vast prospects arising from India’s rapid advancements in manufacturing, infrastructure, and clean energy. He encouraged the company to deepen its engagement with India's growth narrative by utilizing its engineering and digitalization capabilities.
Goyal also convened with German CEOs at the Business Leaders' Roundtable in Berlin.
"I emphasized India's robust reform agenda, extensive opportunities, and future potential across various sectors. I reiterated how our supportive policy framework, which fosters innovation and entrepreneurship, continues to position the country as one of the most appealing investment destinations globally," the minister concluded.
