Hyundai Motor Partners with Google to Enhance Automotive Software for Future Mobility

Seoul, Dec 12 (NationPress) The prominent South Korean automotive manufacturer Hyundai Motor Group declared on Thursday its intention to collaborate with Google in order to enhance its automotive software infrastructure and deliver state-of-the-art navigation and infotainment solutions for drivers.

As part of this alliance, Hyundai Motor will implement Google's Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS) and leverage Google Maps' geolocation services, known as the Places API, to refine its navigation functionalities, as per the company's representatives.

Instead of directly integrating Google Maps into its vehicles, Hyundai Motor plans to utilize information provided by the service concerning around 250 million locations worldwide, which includes business hours, contact details, and customer reviews, to enhance the precision of its navigation offerings, the representatives clarified, according to reports from Yonhap news agency.

The automotive manufacturer intends to first introduce the advanced navigation function in Kia Corp.'s passenger vehicles slated for North America, with plans for further rollout in the upcoming international vehicle lineups of Hyundai Motor Co. and its luxury division Genesis.

Hyundai Motor Group encompasses both Hyundai Motor and Kia.

"Hyundai Motor Group is innovating in the domain of software-defined vehicles (SDV) and mobility to offer customer-centric solutions," stated Song Chang-hyeon, president and head of Hyundai Motor Group's advanced vehicle platform division.

"Our partnership with Google, which assists individuals in locating a wealth of useful information globally, will provide Hyundai Motor Group with an opportunity to expand our technological scope in the mobility sector and deliver enhanced value to our customers."
