SAIL Enhances Infrastructure for Maha Kumbh Mela with 45,000 Tonnes of Steel

New Delhi, Jan 9 (NationPress) The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a major public sector entity, has provided nearly 45,000 tonnes of steel for the development of multiple structures at the anticipated Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, scheduled to take place in Prayagraj.

The steel materials supplied comprise chequered plates, hot strip mill plates, mild steel plates, angles, and joists, as detailed in a statement from the esteemed Maharatna company on Thursday.

This steel will serve a vital role in constructing essential temporary structures necessary for the efficient execution of Maha Kumbh Mela 2025. These structures include pontoon bridges, passages, temporary steel bridges, substations, and flyovers. Key clients for this steel provision include the Public Works Department (PWD), Uttar Pradesh State Bridges Corporation, the Electricity Board, and their affiliates.

Previously, SAIL also contributed steel during the Maha Kumbh Mela of 2013, underlining the company's ongoing dedication to this significant public event, as noted in the statement.

"SAIL is honored to supply steel for such a monumental occasion, which represents the country's rich cultural heritage. The company is devoted to participating in national initiatives that improve the nation's infrastructure and foster its cultural and social well-being," the statement further elaborated.

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 is set to commence on January 13 in Prayagraj and will conclude with the Royal Bath (Shahi Snan) on February 26, coinciding with Mahashivratri.

It is widely believed that individuals achieve salvation through bathing at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the unseen Saraswati. The initial bathing ceremony will occur on Paush Purnima, with Naga Sadhus being the first to experience the Royal Bath, as they are viewed as the Commanders of the Hindu faith.

In preparation for this grand assembly of followers of Sanatan Dharma, Prayagraj has undergone significant transformations. Over 200 roads have been constructed and renovated, ensuring seamless access for millions of pilgrims expected to attend this grand spiritual event. These roads have been enhanced with more than 300,000 plants and 100,000 horticultural saplings, improving their aesthetic appeal.
