Has Yotta Successfully Deployed the Complete BHASHINI Stack for Sovereign AI Cloud?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 9 (NationPress) The homegrown Yotta Data Services has successfully completed the deployment of BHASHINI’s comprehensive sovereign AI cloud transformation on Yotta’s Government Community Cloud (GCC) and Shakti Cloud. This milestone means that BHASHINI now operates entirely on Indian cloud and GPU infrastructure, ensuring that language datasets, models, and citizen interactions are preserved within India’s jurisdiction.
The deployment exemplifies the potential for national digital public goods to be transitioned from hyperscale environments to local cloud infrastructure, achieving up to 40 percent performance enhancement, 20 to 30 percent cost reductions, and maintaining an exceptional 99.99 percent uptime.
Remarkably, this was accomplished with no data loss across over 200 TiB of data and more than 3.5 billion files.
This accomplishment was highlighted at ‘The India AI Sovereignty Dialogues’, which was an official Pre-Summit Event of the AI Impact Summit 2026.
Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary of MeitY and CEO of the IndiaAI Mission, remarked that BHASHINI’s successful migration to local cloud and GPU platforms illustrates that India is capable of building, scaling, and securing its own sovereign AI systems for the public good.
“This reinforces the IndiaAI Mission’s vision of cultivating sovereign computing capacity, models, and deploying AI applications tailored to India’s specific needs, including the provision of reliable, real-time, voice-based services at scale,” stated Singh.
Amitabh Nag, CEO of the Digital India BHASHINI Division, emphasized that the shift to Yotta’s sovereign AI cloud enhances BHASHINI’s control, resilience, and scalability as it continues to cater to India’s linguistic diversity.
“This transformation boosts our capacity to deliver inclusive, real-time multilingual services and represents a significant advancement for Digital Public Infrastructure in AI. It will also serve as a model for future deployments as we move towards a fully sovereign stack,” Nag mentioned.
The migration encompassed BHASHINI’s entire AI stack, including multilingual datasets, models, APIs, containerized services, orchestration pipelines, databases, and storage.
“The successful deployment of BHASHINI on Shakti Cloud signifies a pivotal moment for India’s data sovereignty journey. This transition confirms that mission-critical AI platforms can be developed and operated completely on sovereign infrastructure without any compromises,” said Sunil Gupta, Co-Founder, Managing Director, and CEO of Yotta Data Services.
