Los Angeles, March 24 (NationPress) Actress and comedian Amy Schumer appears to have finally found a successful approach to her weight loss journey after a previous setback.
The actress-comedian shared that she is enjoying "a really good experience" with a new weight loss medication, according to People magazine.
In an Instagram video recorded from her car, the 43-year-old star expressed her desire to be "transparent" with her audience regarding her weight loss progress.
According to People, she disclosed that she had earlier attempted to shed pounds with Wegovy three years ago but encountered adverse effects. "I was like puking, I couldn’t handle it. I don’t know if they’ve changed the formula, whatever," she reminisced.
The comedian elaborated that following that unfortunate experience, she arranged a telehealth consultation and was prescribed two hormones, estrogen and progesterone, to manage her perimenopausal symptoms. She also began taking Mounjaro, a GLP-1 medication commonly used for type 2 diabetes that is often recommended for weight management.
Amy Schumer indicated that the combination of her new treatments has led to beneficial outcomes. "My symptoms of being in perimenopause have disappeared. My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy. I want to 'get down' more, if you know what I mean," the star of Kinda Pregnant jokingly remarked while driving, quickly clarifying, "I'm talking about sex."
"So, yeah, that's been great. Mounjaro's been great," Schumer added.
She informed her followers that Mounjaro is generally not covered by insurance unless one is diagnosed with diabetes or, as she humorously noted, "severe obesity, which most of the Internet thinks I have."
"But I'm having a really good experience, so I wanted to keep it real with you about that," she concluded.
