Mumbai, April 24 (NationPress) The film “Abir Gulaal”, featuring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Indian actress Vaani Kapoor, will not receive approval for release in India, as per information from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India.
Sources from the I&B Ministry have confirmed that the movie ‘Abir Gulaal’ starring Fawad Khan will not be permitted to debut in India.
This decision follows a tragic terror attack in Pahalgam that resulted in the fatalities of 26 tourists, marking one of the most devastating incidents in the region since the 2019 Pulwama attack. The incident took place at Baisaran, a beautiful meadow in the Anantnag district that can only be accessed by foot or pony.
“Abir Gulaal”, which is a romantic comedy, was anticipated to premiere on May 9. The film's trailer, released on April 1, depicted themes of love and flirtation.
Directed by Aarti S Bagdi and produced by Vivek B Agrawal, Avantika Hari, and Rakesh Sippy, the film was scheduled for release on May 9.
The filming for this upcoming entertainer began on September 29 last year against the stunning backdrop of London, as announced by the production company Indian Stories. The movie was filmed in the UK during October and November.
Fawad, one of Pakistan's most prominent stars, made his debut in Indian cinema back in 2014 with the romantic comedy “Khoobsurat” alongside Sonam Kapoor. This film was loosely inspired by the 1980 classic of the same name and featured talents such as Kirron Kher, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Aamir Raza Hussain.
He later starred alongside Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra in the family drama “Kapoor & Sons”, released in 2016, directed by Shakun Batra. His last significant role in Bollywood was in Karan Johar’s “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.
