Mumbai, Feb 6 (NationPress) Following instructions from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Hazratganj Police in Lucknow have officially filed an FIR against the upcoming web series "Ghoooskhor Pandat".

The Lucknow Police stated that the action was prompted by accusations that the series could disrupt social harmony and offend religious and caste sentiments.

There is significant frustration and backlash from the Brahmin community and various social groups regarding the title and content of the series. These groups have even threatened to stage aggressive protests against the show.

Given the gravity of the situation, legal proceedings and investigations are currently in progress.

The authorities intend to exercise the strictest measures against anyone aiming to harm the sentiments of any community or disturb public peace, adhering to a zero-tolerance policy.

In the meantime, the project's lead actor, Manoj Bajpayee, expressed via a recent social media update that "Ghooskhor Pandat" is 'not representative of any specific community'.

He stated, "I acknowledge the sentiments and worries expressed by the public, and I take them to heart. When a project you are involved in causes discomfort to individuals, it prompts reflection and listening. As an actor, I engage with a film through the character and narrative I portray. For me, it was about depicting a flawed individual and his journey of self-discovery. It wasn’t intended as a commentary on any community."

Bajpayee further mentioned that the decision by the creators to remove promotional content demonstrates their seriousness regarding these concerns.

Additionally, Neeraj Pandey released an official statement through Netflix's public relations team, clarifying that the term "Pandat" is used as a colloquial term for a fictional character and does not denote any specific caste, religion, or community.

In his message, he also expressed regret for causing any distress due to the title of his upcoming project.

This statement has also been shared on Neeraj Pandey's official Instagram account.
