During a commemorative event held on February 12, marking what would have been Bhavatharini's birthday, Ilaiyaraaja revealed that she had expressed a desire to create an orchestra.
The esteemed music director shared, “My daughter Bhavatharini wished to initiate a girls' orchestra. Just two days ago, while in Malaysia, I witnessed several girl groups perform, which reminded me of her dream.”
He elaborated on his plans, stating, “The orchestra will consist of female students—specifically those who are 15 years old or younger. I will oversee the selection process. I have already chosen two orchestras from Malaysia. Girls from around the globe are welcome to join.”
“My goal is to create an orchestra that will offer a continuous musical experience for the public. Auditions will be conducted to select participants. I will formally announce the details of this orchestra at an appropriate time, but today I wanted to share my decision to move forward with this project,” he mentioned.
Bhavatharini, who was the only daughter of the legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja, was not only a National Award winner but also gifted with a unique and melodious voice, having sung numerous hit songs across various languages.
She won the National Award for her rendition of the Tamil song 'Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu...' from the Tamil film Bharathi, composed by her father Ilaiyaraaja.
In addition to her singing career, Bhavatharini was also a music director and was in the midst of scoring music for three films at the time of her untimely passing in Sri Lanka, where she had traveled for treatment.
