Chennai, Jan 21 (NationPress) The team behind Mohanlal-starrer L2: Empuraan (L2E) unveiled the initial look of actor Tovino Thomas in the film on the special occasion of his birthday.
Actor Mohanlal took to platform X to express, “Happy birthday Jathin! #TovinoThomas Power…is an illusion! Malayalam | Tamil | Telugu | Kannada | Hindi.”
Director Prithviraj also shared the first look poster with the same heartfelt message. Notably, Tovino portrays the character Jathin in this film, the sequel to a blockbuster.
Initially, Prithviraj had revealed that this movie would serve as a commercial entertainer featuring Mohanlal. Murali Gopy mentioned that this movie is set to be the second part of a trilogy.
The first installment, 'Lucifer', which debuted in 2019 under Prithviraj Sukumaran's direction, became a massive hit, grossing over Rs 200 crore and solidifying its status as the highest-grossing Malayalam film within just eight days.
Actress Manju Warrier also posted Tovino’s first look and extended her birthday wishes to him.
Meanwhile, Tovino Thomas, whose latest film ‘Identity’ has been performing exceptionally well in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, announced the release date for its Telugu adaptation.
The Telugu version is set to be released on January 24. Interestingly, Identity, directed by Akhil Paul and Anas Khan, featuring Tovino Thomas and Trisha Krishnan, has become the first hit of the Malayalam film industry in 2025.
This film was released on January 2 and received an overwhelming response from audiences.
In fact, the film achieved a remarkable worldwide box office collection of ₹23.20 crores within just four days of its release. The Tamil version also garnered significant success.
Akhil Paul and Anas Khan wrote and directed the film, produced by Raju Malliath and Dr. CJ Roy, and distributed by Gokulam Movies via Dream Big Films.
