Mumbai, Dec 28 (NationPress) Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit recently expressed her views on the evolving landscape of cinema attendance, pointing out how escalating ticket prices are influencing theatre attendance.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, the ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ actress highlighted that while high-quality films still attract audiences, the soaring ticket prices compel families to be more discerning about which films to experience in cinemas, especially given the allure of OTT platforms at home. She noted that the convenience of these platforms makes it easier to enjoy films after a long day at work.
The 58-year-old actress elaborated that for many, by the time they return home from work, it’s already late; hence, weekends have become the primary opportunity to visit theatres.
Madhuri shared, “If the film is compelling, it will succeed, and there are several examples of films performing well at the box office. However, the ticket prices have escalated. Thus, when a family decides to go out, they must budget carefully and choose which film to see.”
“Moreover, with OTT, movies are readily available at home, allowing viewers to watch at their leisure. Nowadays, many individuals find it hard to go out to watch a film after returning home late from work. Weekends are the best time to catch a film when people have time off.”
“These factors contribute to the trend. On OTT, films can be watched whenever convenient, and it is often more economical to enjoy a movie at home. You can prepare snacks at home and enjoy the experience. While many reasons contribute to this shift, I don’t foresee a grim future for cinemas. I believe adjustments can be made to enhance the cinema experience for audiences,” concluded Madhuri.
