Chennai, Feb 13 (NationPress) Actor Mike Novikov, who features in director Prithviraj’s forthcoming political action thriller L2: Empuraan (L2E), shared that he received an invitation to India for his role in the sequel, describing it as an incredible experience.
The renowned Malayalam actor Mohanlal, who stars in the film, recently introduced Mike Novikov as Sergei Leonov during a public announcement.
On his social media, Mohanlal tweeted, “Character No.27 Mike Novikov as Sergei Leonov in #L2E #EMPURAAN.” He also shared a link to a YouTube video where Novikov elaborated on his character.
In the video, Novikov expressed, “In this fantastic film, I portray the Russian gangster Sergei Leonov. I had a brief filming experience in the first part of Lucifer in 2019 in Russia, which lasted just one day. However, after five years, this evolved into a fascinating role. I was invited to India, and it was an amazing experience. It was my first visit, and I truly loved the country. The culture, customs, and traditions are completely different. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire crew. They are all exceptional professionals, and it was a great pleasure and honor to collaborate with such a talented team on this unique project. I am confident this film will be highly successful.”
The film L2: Empuraan (L2E), featuring Mohanlal, is directed by actor Prithviraj and produced in partnership by Antony Perumbavoor and Subaskaran. The screenplay is by Murali Gopy, and the music is composed by Deepak Dev. The cinematography is handled by Sujith Vaassudev, with editing by Akhilesh Mohan.
It’s noteworthy that during the film’s early development, actor Prithviraj indicated that it would be a commercial entertainer starring Mohanlal. Murali Gopy also mentioned that this would be the second chapter in a trilogy.
'Lucifer', the inaugural installment of this franchise, released in 2019 and marked Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial debut, achieving blockbuster status within just eight days. It grossed over Rs 200 crore, making it the highest-grossing Malayalam film to date.
