Mumbai, April 22 (NationPress) Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna has recently brought attention to the frequently ignored tragedy of the Jallianwala Bagh genocide, calling on the nation to contemplate this grim episode in India's history.

In a post on social media, Khanna highlighted how the brutal massacre remains largely absent from mainstream discussions, particularly among the youth. He pointed out that the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, which occurred in 1919 during British rule, was one of the most harrowing events in India's fight for independence. The genocide, where hundreds of innocent Indians were killed by British forces under General Dyer's orders, is a stark reminder of the cruelty and oppression experienced by the country during colonial rule.

Khanna suggested that the reason this vital aspect of Indian history isn't more widely recognized today is that much of India’s historical narrative has been influenced by outsiders. On his Instagram, the Shaktimaan actor wrote a detailed note praising Akshay Kumar’s performance in the historical drama ‘Kesari Chapter 2.’

Mukesh Khanna stated, “The Jallianwala Bagh Genocide was one of the darkest chapters in the history of British Raaj in India. Not much has been discussed about it. Very few youth of our country might not have heard this name. This is because most of our history is written by outsiders. Therefore, creating a film on this subject is commendable. I wholeheartedly commend the creators of this film. Exposing the British in the courts is even more welcome.”

“And this is what Akshay Kumar’s latest film Kesari Chapter 2 achieved with remarkable style and grandeur. Full marks to all departments of the film. More such films should be made about our history. Kudos to its director for executing it with finesse. Akshay excelled in his role as the lawyer, as did all the performers. This film is a must-watch,” he added.

The film, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, also features R. Madhavan, Ananya Panday, and Regina Cassandra. Set against the backdrop of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, it was released in cinemas on April 18, 2025.
