Mumbai, Aug 15 (NationPress) Actress Richa Chadha encouraged everyone to appreciate the freedom our nation has earned through struggle as part of her wishes for Independence Day.
"Happy Independence Day 🇮🇳 to all Indians around the globe. Our freedom was not easily obtained; cherish it and strive to protect it. We have demonstrated a path of peace and democracy to the world," Richa shared on her Instagram.
She emphasized that democracy embodies the principle of one person, one vote, rather than allowing billionaires to hold disproportionate influence over the voting process.
The 'Fukrey' star also shared a few spontaneous snapshots on social media, capturing the spirit of India—from artisans at work, to people enjoying leisure time at the beach, to the bustling city caught in traffic.
Highlighting the beauty of the country, Richa noted: "The National Anthem, written in Bangla by Rabindranath Tagore, who declined the knighthood given by the British in protest against the Jallianwala Bagh massacre—thank you Tanveer for your insights—mentions each state, our stunning landscapes, rivers, and hills… Therefore, no one, especially those in temporary roles, can define who is an Indian or what constitutes India.
Refer to my story if unclear. Sending love to all and sadbuddhi to some... Jai Hind and Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya he!"
On the professional front, Richa and her husband Ali Fazal’s film "Secrets of a Mountain Serpent" is poised to premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
Produced under their own banner, Pushing Buttons Studios, the film features Trimala Adhikari and Adil Hussain in lead roles.
Directed by Nidhi Saxena, the drama is currently in post-production.
Regarding "Secrets of a Mountain Serpent", Richa and Ali released a joint statement saying: "We were instantly captivated by Nidhi’s poetic vision. This narrative, embedded in myth, resonates profoundly today. At PBS, we are dedicated to supporting storytellers who embrace creative risks, and Nidhi has produced something unique, lyrical, and deeply moving."
