Why Did Sharmila Tagore Recommend a Wheelchair for Saif's Hospital Exit?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Oct 9 (NationPress) Bollywood icon Saif Ali Khan has finally shared insights regarding his highly publicized appearance after the violent attack he endured in January 2025 at his Bandra home, which left both fans and the film industry reeling.
During a recent discussion, Twinkle Khanna revealed that Saif's mother, Sharmila Tagore, advised him to use a wheelchair when exiting the hospital.
After a 10-day hospital stay for recovery from severe injuries, Saif was seen walking out unaided, dressed elegantly in a crisp white shirt and blue jeans. His calm demeanor triggered new media speculation, with some accusing the actor of staging the entire incident.
In a segment on the talk show “Two Much with Kajol & Twinkle,” Saif explained his choice to walk out rather than use a wheelchair. “I felt fine. The doctors had taken care of everything, and I was in the hospital for about a week, and my back was also alright. Although it was painful to walk, I could manage,” he stated.
He elaborated, “I didn’t see the need for a wheelchair, though there were suggestions for an ambulance and a wheelchair. My instinct was to avoid causing any panic or concern among family, friends, and well-wishers. I thought it would send a positive message that ‘I am okay.’”
However, he expressed his disappointment at the backlash his decision received. “To my surprise, there was so much criticism. People called it fake and untrue. But that's the reality we live in,” he lamented.
Twinkle Khanna, who was in contact with Saif's family during this time, disclosed, “I spoke to your mom afterward, and she mentioned that she had advised you to use a wheelchair to prevent unnecessary controversies.” Saif simply replied, “I didn’t want to cause any worries or panic.”
For those unaware, Saif Ali Khan was assaulted in January 2025 when a thief broke into his Bandra residence and entered his younger son Jehangir Ali Khan's room.
In a brave attempt to protect his family, Saif was brutally attacked on his chest and spine with a sharp knife.
