Mumbai, Jan 22 (NationPress) Sanjay Nirupam, a leader from Shiv Sena, expressed his astonishment regarding the fitness of Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, who was released from Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital just five days after suffering serious injuries from a knife attack in his residence.

On Tuesday, Saif Ali Khan was discharged from Lilavati Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for six days following a stabbing incident at his Bandra home during an attempted burglary.

The actor has now returned to his residence in Bandra, with heavy police presence surrounding the area.

Reports indicate that Khan has been prescribed complete bed rest for a week and is advised against receiving visitors to avoid any potential infections.

However, Nirupam shared a video on X showing Khan walking and greeting his fans without the aid of a wheelchair as he made his way back home, escorted by law enforcement.

Commenting on the actor's seemingly quick recovery, Nirupam remarked, "The doctors mentioned that a knife had penetrated 2.5 inches into Saif Ali Khan's back. It seems he was fortunate enough to escape this ordeal. The surgery lasted for six hours. All of this occurred on January 16, and today is January 21. So fit so soon after leaving the hospital? In just five days? Remarkable!"

Khan had undergone a five-hour surgery at Lilavati Hospital last week and was later moved to the ICU.

During the operation, a fragment of the knife was extracted from the actor's body.

According to medical professionals, Khan sustained six injuries from the assault, including two deep lacerations, but fortunately avoided life-threatening harm.

The 54-year-old actor had neurosurgery to address a spinal injury and plastic surgery to mend wounds on his neck and hands at Lilavati Hospital after being attacked by an intruder in the early hours of Thursday last week in his 12th-floor apartment in the 'Satguru Sharan' building located in upscale Bandra.

Khan was seen entering a waiting black vehicle, flanked by security personnel. His spouse, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, was also present at the hospital shortly before his discharge.

The Mumbai police have apprehended the intruder who allegedly assaulted the Bollywood star. The suspect, identified as Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir (30), a Bangladeshi national, is currently in police custody.

The 30-year-old suspect, who was arrested in the nearby Thane city on Sunday, informed the police that he stabbed the actor multiple times in the back to free himself from Khan's grip, an official stated.

After the attack, the intruder fled from Khan's apartment and concealed himself in the garden of the building for approximately two hours, according to the official.
