Los Angeles, Dec 17 (NationPress) Acclaimed director Steven Spielberg is currently developing his upcoming film titled ‘Disclosure Day’, which is scheduled for a summer release.
This legendary filmmaker is set to unveil a new sci-fi masterpiece, marking his return to the big screen since the 2022 film Fabelmans. The star-studded cast includes Josh O'Connor, Emily Blunt, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, and Eve Hewson, as reported by Female First UK.
The film's logline poses a tantalizing question: "If you discovered that we weren’t alone, and someone provided you with undeniable proof, would that scare you? This summer, the truth is for seven billion people. Welcome to ‘Disclosure Day’."
In this new project for Universal Pictures, Spielberg is reuniting with screenwriter David Koepp, with whom he has collaborated on iconic films like Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. At 78 years old, Spielberg is making a return to the UFO genre, having pioneered it in 1977 with Close Encounters of the Third Kind and revisiting it with classics such as E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial and War of the Worlds.
Recently, promotional billboards in Los Angeles and New York hinted that 'all will be revealed' ahead of the trailer's release this week. Filming took place primarily in New Jersey, with many plot details kept tightly under wraps. The trailer reveals Blunt as a meteorologist possessed by a mystical extraterrestrial force during a live weather broadcast, while O'Connor's character endeavors to disclose the truth about alien existence to humanity.
While the teaser keeps many secrets, it showcases eerie creatures and crop circles, suggesting life beyond our world. O'Connor’s character states, "People deserve to know the truth; it belongs to seven billion individuals". Another character questions, "Why would (God) create such an expansive universe, yet reserve it solely for us?" Spielberg has long expressed his belief in the possibility of alien life.
He previously stated, "I don't believe we are alone in the universe. It's mathematically improbable that we are the only intelligent beings in the cosmos".
‘Disclosure Day’ is set to light up theaters on June 12, 2026.
