Los Angeles, Oct 11 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Zoe Saldana recently shared her insights on the hurdles and successes she encountered while collaborating with her husband, Marco Perego, for the first time on a creative endeavor.
The Oscar-winning actress, aged 47, reminisced about the experience of shooting the 2019 music video for the single ‘Show Me Love’, as reported by People magazine.
This single was directed by Alicia Keys and featured both Zoe Saldana and Perego. She commented in an interview with Beyond Noise, “Collaborating on that music video was incredibly challenging. It was the first time I truly understood his working style, and he understood mine.”
The couple, who tied the knot in 2013 and are parents to three sons - Zen, aged 8, and 10-year-old twins Cy and Bowie - have consistently supported each other's careers from the background. However, entering a shared creative environment revealed unanticipated tensions.
She elaborated, “We’ve discovered numerous ways to coexist. We collaborate on life, family, and now, art.”
This transition, she noted, unveiled new dynamics between them, particularly during rehearsals. “He remarked, ‘I don’t appreciate how you’re addressing me during rehearsals’,” Saldana recalled with a laugh. “I would respond, ‘I keep asking you to lift me up.’”
“You don’t want me to make excuses. I don’t want you to make excuses. That’s the purpose of practice. So can you please keep in mind what we f** just did?” she added.
According to People, Saldana also discussed the realities faced by artists and the resilience needed to persevere in an industry rife with rejection.
“I dislike the term hustle; it carries a negative connotation. Yet, one must be determined and persistent. Being an artist means you will face rejection far more often than acceptance,” she reflected.
