Gandhinagar, March 17 (NationPress) A one-day health check-up camp for members of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly and journalists took place on Tuesday within the Assembly grounds, offering a range of health services including allopathic, ayurvedic, and homoeopathic care.

The event was officially launched by Speaker Shankar Chaudhary alongside State Health Minister Praful Pansheriya.

During the inauguration, Chaudhary underscored the significance of preventive healthcare, asserting, “Routine health check-ups should not wait until illness strikes; they are vital for the early detection of health issues.”

He acknowledged the important roles that both legislators and journalists play in society, noting that timely identification of health concerns is critical given their intense work schedules.

“Journalists often work under challenging conditions—whether it's heat, rain, cold, or even during natural disasters—putting their own safety at risk. The fast-paced demands of news reporting and heavy workloads frequently prevent them from focusing on their health,” Chaudhary remarked.

He also stated, “Likewise, legislators are constantly involved with public concerns, legislative duties, development initiatives, and their social obligations. Maintaining their health is crucial amidst these challenges and pressures.”

Minister Pansheriya mentioned that the camp aimed to enhance awareness regarding health among public representatives and journalists.

“In their hectic routines, even minor health issues can be overlooked. Early diagnosis through these camps can alleviate mental stress. I have personally gained from such health check-ups, both in my previous role as an MLA and my current position as a minister,” he commented.

Kishor Anjaria, President of the Gandhinagar Accredited Press Club, emphasized the club's longstanding commitment to promoting public health awareness through medical check-up camps.

“For over 15 years, we have been organizing such camps to foster health awareness, and we will persist with similar initiatives in the future,” he stated.

The camp offered various tests, including blood analyses, urine examinations, and ECGs. Specialist and super-specialist doctors were available for assessments, and patients requiring additional tests were referred to GMERS Medical College in Gandhinagar.

Specialists from the U.N. Mehta Institute for heart conditions, cancer experts from the Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute, and kidney specialists from the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre were present with the necessary equipment and staff.

Additionally, specialists in ophthalmology, ENT, dermatology, orthopaedics, gynaecology, dental care, medicine, and surgery were on-site from GMERS Gandhinagar, equipped with essential instruments, medications, and logistics.

Laboratory facilities were established to facilitate extensive testing right at the venue.
