Ranchi, March 31 (NationPress) The Minister of State for Defence and Member of Parliament representing Ranchi, Sanjay Seth, is poised to launch a dedicated campaign on April 5 aimed at screening and offering complimentary treatment for fatty liver disease within his Parliamentary constituency.
The initiative titled 'Fatty Liver Mukt Ranchi Abhiyan' will be collaboratively executed by the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) along with Ranchi Sadar Hospital, under the expert guidance of distinguished liver specialist Dr. S.K. Sharin.
During a press briefing on Monday, Seth conveyed that this initiative resonates with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a 'Healthy India'.
“Fatty liver is an escalating health issue. As a public representative, it is my responsibility to ensure the well-being of our citizens. The Prime Minister is the driving force behind this campaign,” he stated.
To enable screenings, four mobile vans outfitted with advanced medical technology have been acquired at an investment of Rs 4 crore. These vans will traverse both urban and rural locales of Ranchi, with the goal of screening 30,000 individuals in the initial phase. The campaign will subsequently expand to include all residents over the age of 18.
Post-screening, doctors will offer free medical consultations. The data gathered will assist in crafting an effective strategy to eradicate fatty liver disease from Ranchi.
Seth underlined that fatty liver represents a serious condition, capable of resulting in various health complications. “Despite initiatives from both governmental and non-governmental sectors, prevention poses a challenge for the medical field,” he remarked.
Fatty liver disease is a prevalent condition where excess fat accumulates in the liver. Over time, this can result in liver damage.
The onset of fatty liver is typically attributed to a combination of long-term factors. The most frequent causes include obesity, diabetes, and excessive alcohol consumption.
