Sanaa, April 15 (NationPress) A staggering 123 civilians have lost their lives and 247 others have sustained injuries, primarily women and children, since the US military renewed its airstrikes across Yemen in mid-March, according to a statement from Houthi-run health authorities.

This disclosure followed recent US airstrikes on a ceramic factory located on the western outskirts of Yemen's capital, Sanaa, late Sunday evening, which resulted in the deaths of seven individuals and injuries to 29 others.

Previously, on April 9, the health authorities had reported the death toll from the renewed US air assaults as 107, with injuries totaling 223.

The Houthi faction seldom reveals casualties among its combatants. Nevertheless, the US military has consistently asserted that the strikes have eliminated numerous Houthi leaders, a claim that the group has refuted, as noted by Xinhua news agency.

Earlier on Sunday, the Houthi group declared that it had successfully downed yet another US MQ-9 drone, marking the 19th drone it has intercepted since November 2023.

According to Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea, a US MQ-9 drone was shot down while conducting hostile operations within the airspace of Hajjah province, located in northwestern Yemen. This statement was broadcast on Houthi-run al-Masirah TV.

Sarea further emphasized that the drone was neutralized by a locally developed surface-to-air missile, asserting that “the ongoing US aggression” has not diminished the military capabilities of the group.

The statement also expressed the group's solidarity with the Palestinian populace, asserting that their operations will persist until Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip ceases and the blockade is lifted.

The US recommenced its air campaign against Houthi forces on March 15, claiming that the strikes are intended to deter the group from executing attacks on Israeli and US naval assets in the Red Sea.

The Houthis, who govern extensive territories in northern Yemen, have been targeting Israeli interests since November 2023 in a show of support for Palestinians suffering under Israeli bombardment in the Gaza Strip.
