Kathmandu, March 11 (NationPress) In a series of Iranian attacks across West Asia, 15 Nepali citizens have been reported injured, with one confirmed fatality, according to a statement from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.

Of the injured individuals, 14 have resumed their work following medical treatment, as noted by the ministry during a press briefing. The region is currently home to over 1.7 million Nepalis, with the United Arab Emirates accommodating the highest number—approximately 700,000 Nepali nationals.

Ram Kaji Khadka, the Joint Secretary at the ministry, reported that the injuries sustained by the 15 Nepalis were minor, resulting from missile and drone strikes executed by Iran. “One Nepali citizen is still receiving treatment, but his condition is stable,” he added.

In retaliation for coordinated assaults by the United States and Israel, Iran has been conducting strikes on several nations in the region that house US military installations, leading to damage of civilian infrastructure in various Gulf countries due to Iranian missiles and drones.

The Nepali government has confirmed the death of a Nepali youth, Diwas Shrestha, from the western district of Gorkha, who was killed during a drone interception operation at Zayed International Airport in the UAE.

During the press conference, Nepal’s Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahaur Rai indicated that there is no urgent requirement to evacuate Nepali workers from the Gulf region due to security concerns. “Our assessment shows that there is no immediate necessity to repatriate them due to threats to their safety,” Rai stated.

To assist in tracking the safety of Nepali nationals amid the ongoing regional conflict, the Nepali government has implemented an online rescue tracking system. As of Tuesday evening, approximately 61,989 Nepalis had registered their information in this system, which is managed by the Department of Consular Services under the ministry. The submitted data is currently under review for necessary follow-up actions.

The governments of affected nations and Nepali diplomatic missions continue to issue security advisories regarding the situation in West Asia. The ministry has encouraged Nepali citizens to stay informed and vigilant regarding updates and safety measures.
