Dhaka, Sep 25 (NationPress) The Awami League of Bangladesh has vehemently criticized the recent assaults on its processions, arbitrary detentions, and the oppressive actions directed at its leaders and members, alongside widespread human rights violations occurring under the governance of the Yunus-led interim government.

The party has also declared plans for protest marches and gatherings nationwide, including in Dhaka, on Friday.

In a scathing rebuke of the Yunus administration, the party stated, "Since the unlawful regime of the Yunus clique took control, the citizens have faced unimaginable violence and oppression. Daily life has been reduced to a nightmare. Law and order have vanished. The nation is engulfed in mob rule, where murder, sexual assault, theft, and arson have become routine occurrences."

This condemnation follows the arrest of at least 244 Awami League leaders and activists by law enforcement after a spontaneous rally in Dhaka.

Highlighting the horrific incidents, the Awami League noted that acts like pointing a gun at a child's head, gang rapes, or exhuming and burning corpses have tragically become the shameful norm in contemporary Bangladesh.

The party emphasized that even the homeless and mentally ill individuals on the streets are victims of this escalating violence.

It was alleged that under the explicit orders of the Yunus-led interim government, acts of genocide were executed in the Gopalganj district, with the populace enduring extreme distress in this "burning hell".

The Awami League remarked that as part of their relentless struggle against the rising atrocities, when their leaders and members organized rallies in various parts of Dhaka on Wednesday, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its student faction, Chhatra Dal, with direct support from the Yunus administration, launched assaults against them.

"Instead of aiding the victims, the police unjustly apprehended them. Cadres from the BNP, Jubo Dal, and Chhatra Dal engaged in mob violence, abducting and disappearing many, extorting ransoms, and subjecting numerous individuals to severe torture, leaving many critically injured. Rather than ensuring proper medical attention, the police obstructed the injured from receiving care and proceeded with arbitrary arrests," the party expressed.

The Awami League accused the Yunus government of facilitating attacks by BNP members on its peaceful rallies, leading to the detention of numerous party leaders and activists.

In light of these brutal assaults and unjust arrests, the Awami League has called for the immediate dismissal of all false charges against those detained on Wednesday.

The party also demanded the withdrawal of fabricated cases against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Awami League, and other political figures and activists, alongside the unconditional release of all political detainees.
