In her inaugural address, CCI Chairperson Ravneet Kaur underscored the collective responsibility of BRICS competition regulators to preserve markets that promote efficiency, consumer welfare, innovation, and merit-based competition. She highlighted the increasingly cross-border character of digital markets and emerging technologies, stressing that sustained cooperation would be essential for future-ready competition enforcement.

Kaur also noted that collaboration among BRICS competition authorities would help advance fair renewable energy markets while supporting shared goals of sustainable growth and energy security. She emphasised that competition law interventions must remain principled, evidence-based, and anchored in core competition objectives — particularly as enforcement challenges grow more complex.

What the Bloc's Regulators Agreed On

Heads and senior representatives of competition authorities from all BRICS member countries exchanged views on recent developments in competition law and policy, including significant enforcement initiatives, institutional changes, and domestic market challenges. The meeting reaffirmed the bloc's commitment to continued dialogue and knowledge-sharing to address challenges in increasingly interconnected markets.

Notably, Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defence briefed participants on its preparations for the Xth BRICS International Competition Conference, scheduled to be held in Brazil in 2027.
