Beijing, Jan 27 (NationPress) Constructive exchanges have been undertaken at numerous levels, and the advancement of China-India relations has gained momentum since the meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kazan last year, highlighted Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his discussions with visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in Beijing on Monday.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated post-meeting that both parties have "diligently acted upon the significant consensus" established by the nations' leaders.
"Both sides should embrace the moment, meet each other halfway, explore more concrete actions, and dedicate themselves to mutual understanding, support, and achievement, rather than falling into mutual suspicion, alienation, and consumption," the statement from the Chinese side conveyed.
"The enhancement and growth of China-India relations are entirely aligned with the core interests of both nations and their citizens, beneficial for protecting the legitimate rights and interests of countries in the global South, and contribute to the peace, stability, development, and prosperity of Asia and the world," it further stated.
During their discussions at the BRICS Summit in October 2024 in Kazan, PM Modi had communicated to the Chinese President that the foundation of India-China relations must rest on three pillars - mutual trust, mutual respect, and mutual sensitivity - to ensure a positive and sustainable trajectory.
"We appreciate the consensus reached concerning the issues that have emerged along the India-China border over the past four years. Upholding peace and stability at the border should remain our foremost priority. Mutual trust, mutual respect, and mutual sensitivity are the cornerstones of our relationship," stated PM Modi following this crucial bilateral meeting with Xi Jinping - the first at the delegation level in nearly five years.
