Cairo, April 7 (NationPress) Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and his visiting French counterpart Emmanuel Macron expressed their firm opposition on Monday to any proposals concerning the displacement of Palestinians from their homeland, highlighting the necessity for a fair resolution to the Palestinian issue.

At a joint press conference held in Cairo, al-Sisi stated, "We have reached a consensus against any proposals for the displacement of Palestinians from their land." He underscored that achieving lasting peace in the Middle East cannot occur without an equitable resolution to the Palestinian cause. Sisi urged for an immediate ceasefire to facilitate the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid, the release of hostages, and to avert further escalation.

Macron echoed these views, reiterating France's opposition to any form of Palestinian displacement and the annexation of Gaza and the West Bank. He asserted, "Hamas must not play a role in governing Gaza."

Macron condemned the renewed Israeli strikes in Gaza and called for adherence to the ceasefire and a prompt return to negotiations.

The two leaders also deliberated on the circumstances in Syria, Lebanon, and Iran.

The French leader conveyed France's backing for a transitional process aimed at achieving a unified, stable, and sovereign Syria, while opposing any external interference, as reported by Xinhua news agency. He emphasized France's dedication to the sovereignty and stability of Lebanon, denouncing "all hostile and terrorist acts."

Regarding Iran, Macron reiterated that Egypt and France are in favor of a diplomatic resolution to the Iranian nuclear crisis, warning that "this issue will lead to increased regional instability." He stated that France, in collaboration with its partners, is actively working to contain Iran's nuclear ambitions and its involvement in regional conflicts.
