Sanaa, June 22 (NationPress) The Houthi group in Yemen has announced that it will target US vessels if Washington decides to strike Iran.

According to a statement by Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea, aired on Houthi-controlled al-Masirah TV, "If America engages in an attack on Iran, our armed forces will aim at its ships and battleships in the Red Sea.”

"We are vigilant and monitoring all activities in the area... necessary actions will be taken," he added, emphasizing, "We stand with Iran... We will not permit America and its criminal entity to execute their strategies in the region."

Recently, US President Donald Trump informed reporters that he has provided Iran a maximum of two weeks to return to negotiations concerning its nuclear program, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Last week, Israel launched airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear sites and senior leaders, resulting in significant infrastructure damage and casualties among Iranian military personnel and nuclear scientists. In retaliation, Iran has initiated missile and drone strikes on various locations within Israel.

The Yemen-based Houthi group, which has control over much of northern Yemen, has been actively targeting Israel since November 2023, shortly after the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza, as a show of solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
