Indonesian Leader Engages with Japanese Prime Minister

Jakarta, Jan 11 (NationPress) Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held discussions with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Saturday, resulting in a mutual agreement to boost collaboration in various fields.

During a press conference, Subianto mentioned that Indonesia is open to the involvement of Japanese companies in the nation’s future economic advancement, specifically in the downstream programs concerning natural resources.

The Indonesian president encouraged the Japanese government to play a role in Indonesia's economic progress, with a focus on achieving food and energy self-sufficiency, industrializing natural resources, and addressing hunger within under-nourished communities.

Ishiba affirmed Japan's dedication to enhancing cooperation in resource development and infrastructure to secure energy stability and promote decarbonization initiatives.

He also reiterated Japan's backing of Indonesia's industrialization efforts, particularly those related to downstream natural resources, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

As per the Japanese Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Ishiba paid a visit to the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery to lay flowers as a gesture of respect.

Following this, he participated in a welcome ceremony and convened a summit meeting with Subianto, which was succeeded by a joint press event.

In the afternoon, Ishiba was hosted at a luncheon by Prabowo before addressing the press about his visits to Malaysia and Indonesia.
