Iran Denies Claims of Embassy Staff Evacuation in Damascus, Syria

Tehran, Dec 7 (NationPress) Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei on Saturday refuted claims concerning the evacuation of personnel from its embassy in the Syrian capital Damascus, as reported by the official news agency IRNA.
His comments came in response to a report from The New York Times on Friday, which suggested that Iran had initiated the evacuation of its military commanders and personnel from Syria, and had ordered evacuations at its embassy in Damascus earlier in the day, according to Xinhua news agency.
Baghaei asserted that the information regarding the evacuation of Iran's embassy in Damascus was inaccurate, emphasizing that the embassy continues to function as usual.
Since November 27, various Syrian rebel groups, primarily led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, have commenced significant offensives across multiple fronts in Syria, capturing critical cities such as Aleppo and Hama.
On the same day, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed his country's commitment to supporting the Syrian people and government, according to IRNA.
While addressing reporters in Doha, the capital of Qatar, where he participated in a trilateral meeting with Turkish and Russian foreign ministers concerning the situation in Syria, Araghchi stated, "It is natural that we will continue supporting the Syrian people and government. This is a political campaign in which we should play our role."
