Tehran, March 21 (NationPress) Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran is not interested in engaging in conflict with fellow Muslim nations, as reported by the official news agency IRNA.
His comments were made in a congratulatory message celebrating Eid al-Fitr, which signifies the conclusion of Ramadan, and Nowruz, marking the start of the Iranian New Year on March 21, according to Xinhua.
Addressing the increasing tensions between Iran and certain Arab nations following recent US and Israeli actions, Pezeshkian stated, "We do not wish to have any disagreements with Muslim countries. Our aim is not to create conflict or war with Islamic nations. They are our brothers."
He attributed the heightened tensions to the influence of the United States and Israel.
Pezeshkian expressed Iran's willingness to address various issues with its neighbors and proposed establishing a security framework composed of Islamic states in the Middle East to foster peace, security, and stability.
"We do not require foreign involvement in our region. We can create an Islamic assembly in the Middle East through collaboration with Muslim countries, allowing us to manage our security, economic, cultural, and political affairs," he elaborated.
Additionally, Pezeshkian affirmed that Iran does not pursue the development of nuclear weapons, citing a religious decree from former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei that prohibits such arms, asserting that no Iranian official can progress towards creating weapons of mass destruction.
He remarked that the United States aims to convince the global community that Iran is advancing towards nuclear armament.
On February 28, joint attacks by Israel and the United States targeted Tehran and other Iranian regions, resulting in the deaths of Iran's then-supreme leader and several senior military officials and civilians. In retaliation, Iran executed missile and drone strikes aimed at Israeli and US facilities in the Middle East.
