Jakarta, Feb 18 (NationPress) The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (Whoosh) has carried over 8.01 million passengers since its official launch on October 17, 2023.
Data from KCIC indicates that the average occupancy rate is currently at 60.73 percent, with a peak daily record of 24,400 passengers.
To meet the rising demand, the number of daily trips has been increased to 62 as of February 1, allowing for more flexible and frequent departures. With trains operating every 30 minutes, Whoosh continues to provide commuters with a fast and reliable travel option, as reported by Xinhua news agency citing PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC).
In light of the growing commuter demand, KCIC has introduced the Frequent Whoosher Card, a subscription pass aimed at enhancing flexibility and affordability.
To further improve the passenger experience, KCIC has rolled out several new offerings. A new shuttle bus now links Halim Station with Pantai Indah Kapuk 2 (PIK2), one of Jakarta's prime coastal spots, making it easier for travelers from Bandung to explore the city's beaches, culinary delights, and entertainment venues.
Moreover, the launch of the first official Whoosh merchandise store at Halim Station allows travelers to buy a variety of branded items, including apparel, accessories, and memorabilia.
"We aim to provide a more personalized and memorable travel experience for our passengers. With our official merchandise, customers can take home a distinctive memento of their journey on Whoosh," stated KCIC Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa, emphasizing that these initiatives reflect KCIC's dedication to improving connectivity and convenience for travelers.
The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway is presently the only high-speed rail system in Southeast Asia and the Southern Hemisphere.
