Man Detained After Allegedly Colliding with Police Vehicle in Melbourne, Australia

Sydney, Dec 15 (NationPress) A man was taken into custody after reportedly colliding with a police vehicle while driving a stolen car in a suburb of Melbourne, as stated by the police of the Australian state of Victoria.
Authorities received a call around 11:00 p.m. regarding a dispute between a man and a woman in a shopping centre parking lot located in Berwick, a suburb of Melbourne, according to Victoria Police's report on Sunday.
Witnesses indicated that three men tried to intervene when it was claimed that the man threatened one of them with a knife, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Upon arrival, the police instructed the man to exit the vehicle. However, the driver, who was the only occupant, allegedly collided with the police vehicle before fleeing the area, according to the police.
Law enforcement tracked the stolen vehicle and successfully utilized stop sticks to halt the fleeing driver.
The 49-year-old man was apprehended at the scene, and fortunately, no injuries were reported due to the collision or during the arrest.
Earlier, on November 28, 2024, four individuals were taken into custody following a chaotic police chase where a police vehicle was repeatedly rammed in Victoria.
The four individuals were arrested after a police car was rammed in Springvale.
The police vehicle pursued an alleged stolen Mazda CX-9 to a dead-end road on Maple Street, where it collided with the police car multiple times before the occupants abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot.
The officers, who were unharmed in the crash, pursued the suspects and apprehended two men nearby.
Subsequent patrols in the area led to the discovery of two women who were also arrested.
On April 4, 2024, two men were on the run after Victorian police officers were attacked and their vehicles were rammed at a petrol station.
Police were summoned to an Ampol station on Kings Way, South Melbourne, following reports of two men slumped in a vehicle.
Both men woke up and attempted to assault the two officers before trying to flee the scene, as stated by the police.
The duo then rammed their vehicle into the two police cars that were parked both behind and in front.
