Washington, Feb 13 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Thursday that he had a 'productive' meeting with the 'great friend of India' US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.

Following Waltz's visit to him at the Blair House, a US government facility where he is residing, PM Modi shared on X that they had a 'remarkable discussion' on 'defense, technology, and security', which are vital components of India-USA relations.

'There is significant potential for collaboration in areas such as AI, semiconductors, space, and more,' he added.

Later in the day, PM Modi is expected to meet with US President Donald Trump.

Waltz is the second high-ranking official from the Trump administration that the Prime Minister has met since his arrival here on Wednesday.

Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, visited the PM on Wednesday evening shortly after her oath of office was administered and confirmed by the US Senate.

The Prime Minister's team included External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Ambassador to the US Vinay Kwatra, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

Waltz has a longstanding relationship with India. Previously, as a Republican member of the US House of Representatives, he co-chaired the Congressional India Caucus with Ro Khanna, a Democrat.

He has been a staunch advocate for strengthening ties with India.

Gabbard, the new top intelligence official of the US, has also previously supported India. During her tenure in the US House of Representatives, she co-chaired the India Caucus as a Democrat. Consequently, the Trump Cabinet now includes two former co-chairs of the India Caucus.

The Prime Minister's Office of India noted on X that 'They discussed various aspects of the India-USA friendship' regarding the Gabbard-PM Modi meeting.

Additionally, the Prime Minister met with Musk, the tech billionaire who has become a trusted ally and advisor to President Trump.

The US President has tasked Musk with enhancing the efficiency of the federal government. Musk has met PM Modi multiple times before and even accompanied the PM on his tour of the Tesla facility in San Jose back in 2015.
